Thrombosis of the spleno-porto-mesenteric venous shaft remains, under the conditions of the portal hypertension surgery, a frequent complication with a reserved prognosis. The work follows the incidence of thrombotic complications by retrospectively studying 387 patients with hepatic cirrhosis surgically treated for portal splenopathy, at different stages of disease evolution and postoperative stages. Particular tactical issues raised by this complication, treatment and post-therapeutic monitoring aspects are discussed.
