Abstract

Objectives. The negative consequences of chemicals for humans range from direct damage to health (carcinogenic, toxic-reproductive, mutagenic action, causing other chronic diseases or even death) to triggering major environmental problems (excessive contamination of flora and fauna). The aim of the study is to present arguments on the need for scientific research that will address the issue of chemicals that cause changes in the endocrine system, as well as assess the risk of exposure to these xenobiotics.

 Material and methods. A review of national and international publications focused on the impact of priority chemicals on population health was conducted.

Results and discussion. In the Republic of Moldova, annually, more than 10000 patients are diagnosed with diabetes. In 2017, the total number of patients with diabetes was 105000 people. Researches in the field of risk assessment for exposure to endocrine disruptors are actual on both nationally and internationally levels. Ensuring a healthy environment and preventing the negative health impact are indisputable elements of the complex of measures aimed at ensuring the health of current and future generations.

Conclusion. The results of research will contribute to the elaboration of national policies in the field of prevention and control of endocrine diseases, conditioned by the action of endocrine disruptors, with a positive social, economic and medical impact.
